I have modem light applet on my taskbar. It works as far as showing that modem is connected and Rx and Tx lights works. What don't work is pushing the bottom button to activate and deactivate the connection. I looked at the properties and it states as follows: General: Updates per second 5 Connect command: pppon Disconnect command: pppoff Confirm connection: enabled Advanced: Modem lock file: /var/lock/LCK..modem Device: ppp0 Use ISDN: disabled Is it right? What am I missing? What is "Modem lock file"? Another thing, I installed RH 6.0 in my wife's machine Asus P3B-F with PII and USR 33.6 and the modem light does not work at all. In my K6-2 with Asus P5A and USR 56K voice, modem light works well with the exception above. What did I do wrong with the PII installation? Before you answer the question I have noticed the Kernel is compiled during installation in 586 format and the PII machine is in 686 format, does that affect the modem light? If so, why, does UserNet from anotherlevel works well under either machines? I am running Gnome. Help will be appreciated.
