I had the same problem on a Sparc 2--aparently it is specific to something
on the Sparc 2. I was able to install RedHat 6.0 on the same machine.
I haven't tried the 6.2 beta -- you might want to try it (assuming here is a
Sparc version, I haven't checked).
I finally gave up and installed OpenBSD 2.6 -- it works very well.
