Not if you're running a recent copy of Red Hat.  Firewalling support is
in there.  I'm including a script that I wrote a couple of days ago. 
The intention behind this script was to make it easy to do as much as
possible.  Right now, you can set up protected devices (which will have
all of their priveledged ports closed), specific ports to open on those
devices, and additional ports to close.  You can also set up
masquerading, networks to route, and port forwarding.

Check it out, and see if it suits your needs.  If not, then there are
lots of other scripts available.

Probably use "gnorpm".  It'll tell you all of the packages that are
installed, as well as what they're for.  If you don't think you need it,
remove it.  If something else needs it, you'll be told.
