Hi - I'm having some netwroking weirdness on our server - and I'm not
sure if this is related but we're having problems with our modem (a
backup 33.6 external we're using since our internal 56K stopped
responding) where it seems to be freezing up occasionally.

can someone explain what's going on here... don't be concerned about
the poor response times - I'm currently hammering our link
downloading a 30Mb file... anyway - when I try a ping somewhere I get
these strange results:

what does "wrong data byte #8" and all the rest of it mean?
