Hi everyone,

I just replaced a SmartUPS 1000 with a brand new SU700. The 1000 was visible
to my Linux RH6.0 machine, running PowerChutePlus 4.5.2 software. It was
set-up for ttyS0. I could remotely test and monitor the UPS. After the
switch, I am getting the following error when running Config.sh:

The following Port validations for /dev/ttyS0 may take a few moments....
/dev/ttyS0 appears to be a local control port

----------------------------------------------------------------------------
WARNING: Could not communicate with device on /dev/ttyS0.
Check that the communications cable is attached properly to both the
device
   and the serial port.

I am using the first of two available com ports. I tried two shutdown
cables, one of them was working on that machine this morning. When I run
statserial for ttyS0 I get the following settings:
RTS 1
CTS 1
DSR 0
DCD 1
DTR 1
RI 0

Would any of you have any suggestions on how to further troubleshoot that
problem? TIA.

Regards,

Marcin Kraszewski
