I finally found a way around the problem

2x PII/400 in MicroStar MS-6120N (440BX), 512MB ECC SDRAM
AMI MegaRAID 428 (OEM w/ 2 channels) with
        Channel 1: WD Enterprise UW-SCSI 4GB
                   IBM UltraStar 2S UW-SCSI 4GB
        Channel 2: 3x Seagate Hawk 4GB SCA w/ W-SCSI adapter
Adaptec AHA-3985 3-channel SCSI with
Channel A: Seagate Barracuda 4 Narrow
        Channel B: Plextor 14x-32x (UltraPlex) CD-ROM
        Channel C: Panasonic 8x/4x CD-R external
                   Fujitsu 1.3GB MO external
Matrox Millenium 8MB WRAM
3C905 10/100 Ethernet NIC; D-Link DE220 NE2000 compatible ISA NIC

When trying to install, I got hung again and again after the loading
SCSI drivers (AMI428 or AIC7XXX) stage. I thought that it was an
hardware error like a SCSI termination problem, but after almost a
full 24hours of trial and error, I discovered that I could install
using TEXT MODE. The graphics mode FTP install conks out with an
error in PYTHON, for some reason (a file called *.py).

I thought I might report this to others who might have similar stuff
but I want to mention that Linux seems to be restricted to ONE logical
drive on the MegaRAID. As in when setting up and when booting into
2.2.14, I cannot never see more than one disk.

Hope that this is useful to someone and invite any comments. B.Y.
