pico is your friend, Kate. pico is your friend. 
Remember when using pico to edit a script file (instead of email or as a
text editor), use pico -w and the filename
as the -w disables wordwrap. You don't want a 90 character line
wordwrapped at 72 during edit as that would make mistakes in the script.
Otherwise, pico is a very very friendly program, almost like the old dos
edit.
