I had this problem too. cause: you are using gnome, da? you are using
gnome-terminal, da? gnome-terminal does not (by default) add entries to
utmp or wtmp (the files that who and w and the rest of them look at).
solution: gnome-terminal --utmp --wtmp
(that's what I did anyway)
It's a real pain in the ass though for admin purposes :( I don't know
how to turn it on as default, so it forces ALL login to be shown would
like to hear a solution?
