What you need to do is patch your kernel with a patch available from 
http://www.linuxhelp.org/linuxide.  The filename you want is 
2.2.10.uniform-ide-6.20.eridanus.patch.gz.  The only problem with it is 
that you have to downgrade your kernel to 2.2.10 in order for this patch to 
work.  It DOES work just fine though, I have it on my system which has an 
ASUS P5A. Hope this helps
