q1: I have a new S3 Trio 3D/2X ,8Mb, video accelerator.
In RH 6.1 it does not to work properly.
Does anybody know a better chipset selection for the S3/SVGA
server ?
It's not the chipset selection. It's a tweak you need to do in your
configuration files. Damned if I can remember what it is, but I had to do
this on my fiance's machine before it would work properly. I've also managed
to lose the exact URL, but I know I went to the XFree86 site and read the
FAQs that are listed there. I can't even check it for you as I've now
installed a Banshee in her machine and blown the original config files.
Trust me, ignore the 'buy another video card' post, just check the XFree86
site in the FAQ section, read it, do it, and everything will be fine. The
problem is specifically listed.
q2: I have a HCF 56K PCI modem that does not work on 6.1
Does anybody know a solution for testing/activating it ?
I tried winmodem.org.
I don't like the model number of that modem. It looks like a winmodem...is
it?
q3: because of my S3 selction, vmware doesn't start - "DGA error "
Any solution ?
Try the above. I pulled my hair out for 2 days before I decided to read the
fine manuals on the net. Knock yourself out.
