I tried your previous suggestion and the directories all had a+x on them 
already.   I have portsentry installed and running so I killed it and it 
still does not work.   The strange thing is this worked a few weeks ago.  And 
now I need to set up a web server and I can't.   Off hand does inetd handle 
port 80 calls?  I looked in my inetd.conf file and no httpd is found.  I am 
grasping at straws now...
