You can nix this question. Resolved myself. Fstab entry was bad for
/dev/pty.
Needs to be: none /dev/pts devpts mode=0622 0 0
I guess the entry comes this way. At least on another machine where
telnet was working it was in fstab this way. I then had to remount /dev/pts.
Another one in the books.
