You could have always created the /usr/local/atalk and copied all from
the /etc/atalk directory. Anywho, glad to hear you got it installed.
There is an init script that comes with netatalk (at least the rpm
version) but you can always look at any number of the init scripts in
/etc/rc.d/init.d, use one as a template and create one for atalkd and
then add the appropriate links in rc0.d - rc6.d.
