I was having the trouble of a ppp connection failing on the first attempt, as a
lot of others have had, and upgraded the stock ppp to ppp-2.3.10-3 which was
supposed to fix this problem. It does indeed solve this problem.

But what STILL doesn't work is when I enable a ppp interface to automatically
start on boot. When ppp0 is brought up in the boot, it pauses waiting for the
IP address to be assigned, then fails. It follows with a message that it will
retry in the background, which it doesn't. Once the machine is fully booted,
the modem is still connected but no IP address has been assigned and I have to
bring down ppp0 manually, and bring it back up to get a connection.

Anyone else experience this with the stock ppp in RH6.1, as well as with the
patch???

Best regards,
Clarence Donath
