Hi
I have not read all the responses as yet....so...
All I can say is support the LPI for what it stands for and how it is
setup, ie you can help it take shape now..........
To cut a long story short, it is community based, it has its Q & A s done
by people on lists such as this one, and its not driven by money and money
only. We (yes you and I ) have a chance to set how we want the industry
judged as far as certification goes.........
Having a Redhat course cert would be nice, and I guess its a well known
name, and they really have started the ball rolling, but I am not sure how
many hackers have the funds to throw at them, I am not sure also if they
offer the test without having to do thier course I imagine they would.
I would not say don't do the Redhat cert, because clearly the name will be
well know, but so will the LPI if you guys support it, and after all, would
you not like to have some say in how things are done ? or at least be able
to if you want too ? In any case I hope that the efforts of the guys at the
LPI do not go unnoticed....they are our fellow linux users and the people
that helped/help many on this list and others......a certificate from the
LPI will be noticed by employers as an achievement as well as a RH one.
Have a good dig around the site , you may recognise many names on the site.
Have a look at the levels available as well, there are more being worked on
now as well....
