Here's an update. In my /var/log/messages, I get:
Jan 26 12:22:46 xxx modprobe: can't locate module parport_lowlevel
Jan 26 12:22:47 xxx modprobe: can't locate module parport_lowlevel
Jan 26 12:22:47 xxx kernel: imm: Version 2.03 (for Linux 2.0.0)
Jan 26 12:22:47 xxx kernel: imm: parport reports no devices.
Jan 26 12:22:47 xxx kernel: scsi : 0 hosts.
Looks like I have to alias paraport_lowlevel to something in conf.modules,
but what? The zip itself is hooked up, on with a disk in. The same model
works on a separate windows machine, so I know the drive is good.
Any suggestions now? Thanks.
