new rh6.1 guy, (please advise on how I could have found this answer
without bothering the list)

Ok, so I am trying to do my first linux thingy, patch the
sucker:

 lpr (RHSA-2000:002-01)

per, http://www.redhat.com/support/errata/rh61-errata-security.html

I walk into a brick wall:

[root@nsap stellr]# rpm -ivh lpr-0.48-1.i386.rpm
file /usr/bin/lpq from install of lpr-0.48-1 conflicts with file from package lp
r-0.41-2
...

[root@nsap stellr]# rpm -e lpr-0.41-2
error: removing these packages would break dependencies:
        lpr >= 0.16 is needed by printtool-3.41-2
        lpr >= 0.17 is needed by rhs-printfilters-1.57-3

The notes from the errata:

http://www.redhat.com/support/errata/RHSA2000002-01.html

say there are no conflicts. I would call this a conflict.
What's a mother to do?
