In following the directions in Kernel-HOWTO, I've successfully recompiled the kernel and used the 'make bzdisk' option to copy it all to a floppy, then reboot from the floppy, and everything works great, it even finds my parallel port ZIP Drive (which was the purpose of this whole exercise)... But unfortunately, the directions do not go into what to do after building a successful bzdisk image... So after successfully booting to it, I went ahead and ran 'make bzImage' and then ran 'make bzlilo' afterwards to install the new kernel... Now however, when I boot up it tells me I've removed the ZIP Drive (which I haven't) and is no longer available.. I've followind the further instructions in the Kernel-HOWTO under the section: 4.4. Installing the kernel I've checked my lilo.conf file which was a little bit different in the image= line... according to the HOWTO, it's supposed to say image = /vmlinuz mine originally said: image = /vmlinuz-2.2.12-20 In the /boot is an alias for vmlinuz mapped to vmlinuz-2.2.12-20 so I thought I was safethere... but in the interest of trying to get this to work, I did change it to vmlinuz... however,it still will not boot up to the new kernel (at least I think that's what's going on...) So after successfully getting a bzdisk to work, how can I ensure I install this new working kernel? -------------------------------------------------------------------- Joseph E. Sheble a.k.a.
