DNS w/no domain

I am trying setup a DNS server and DHCP server in my house. I don't have a
domain name since I use a dial-up connection and was wondering if there is a
standard domain to use for standalone networks, i.e., localdomain, loc,
local. Does anyone know if there is a name set aside for this purpose.
