How can tell from the pppd logs, why a connection was terminated? I
found the entry on for non-active connections. The entry for
time-limits is based on my own scripting so I know where/what that entry

is located.

The majority of the disconnects are;
(I believe this a normal disconnect)
LCP terminated by peer
Hangup (SIGHUP)
modem hangup
Connection terminated

An inactive connection will log:
Terminating connection due to lack of activity
Connection terminated

Connections 0-1min;
Hangup (SIGHUP)
modem hangup
NOTE: No "LCP term by peer" entry.

Extra Debugging logs the Hex value of the LCP term request.
sent(or rcvd) LCP TermAck id=0xN
where N=(2,4,5,6,26)

But if pppd quits because;:
1) Lost carrier
2) Client is not responding (such as excessive phone line noise)

Anyone no how to cipher the difference?

thanks in advance ;-)
