SLIP will work between serial ports, as will PPP.  You can also use PLIP
between parallel ports.  If you only want to move a few files, and
don't care about the other network features, you can also run minicom
on both machines, and use it to do file transfere.  Or you can run
minicom on one machine, a version of getty on the other, and log into
the second machine, and use sz to send files from that machine, or
rz to send files to it.
