I am running RH 6.1, which was actually 6,0 upgraded to 6.1.
I'm running the GNOME desktop environment, and am generally pretty happy
with it.
I have a gripe about the icons on the desktop, and I'm hoping somebody
can help me with it.
I have long since deleted those annoying default icons, like RedHat
Errata, RedHat Support, etc.
And I have created my own desktop icons by use of 'ln -s', and changing
the properties for the icon, etc. The new icons are pointing to the
cdrom, and to the zip drive that I have -- both partitions, the Linux
partion /dev/sda1 and the vfat partition /dev/sda4.
I have also created icons for the two types of floppies, win and linux,
for /mnt/vfloppy and /mnt/floppy, respectively.
However, whenever I pop a CD in the drive, or eject a CD, it seems that
GNOME creates new icons on my desktop -- 4 of them. One for the floppy,
one for the CDrom, two for the zip disk.
This is driving me crazy. Somebody help me. This must stop.
