/var is fairly important, without a backup your best (quickest) option is
to reinstall. Then get a backup strategy of some type in place.
How did you happen to delete /var? What command did you use? I'm wondering
if you might have renamed /var rather than actually delete it (you would
have had to do something like "rm -R /var" and it would have taken some
time to complete).
