I have used one for about six months. The tape drive failed after 4 months but
was properly replaced by Seagate. I use BRU2000 for backup and crash recovery
(haven't needed) software. I am amazed at how hot the tapes are after a backup.
Touching a tape and saying it is hot is certainly not valid criteria for
judging a tape drive. But it did strike me as unusual. I have definitely had a
better experience with this drive than with a previous Seagate 3200 running off
the floppy controller.

If the current drive holds up then I would recommend it but I am cautious.

Good luck with your decision,
Ken Swinton
