Yes, it has some more patches and it's closer to what will actually get
into 6.2.
I've removed the kernel package from my experimental packages a while ago
(there's still kernel23 though).
Also, the kernel in Rawhide does not patch the Makefiles to compile with
-mpentiumpro -march=i686 when arch == i686 (stability is more important
than speed for releases).

I've heard there are some problems with NIS with the i686 glibc, aside
from that, I'm not aware of any problems either.
