I forgot an important piece of information which is that it is a USR VSP
internal cablemodem with Windows only drivers. The cable company is
(supposed to be) upgrading equipment and providing an external modem in
the near future.
In the interim I am stuck with Win98 unless Vmware can recognize this
modem.
