I have recently reinstalled my RH system after totalling the previous setup. For whatever reasons, I was having a HELL of a time getting it to install properly and load lilo in the MBR. I finally did it but only after I partitioned hda so that Windoze got the hda1 primary partition (650 meg) and linux got hda5 and without partitioning different mountpoints as I used to. What I mean is that previously I had separate partitions for /, /usr, /usr/local, and /home. Now I have just /, /tmp, and /home. I find that now my system doesn't behave as well as it used to. It appears as if some process is really hogging resources, even though it doesn't show up in top because the mouse pointer tends to stutter periodically. It is especially noticeable when I am compiling something. Before, I would be compiling two apps at the same time and, perhaps have netscape or Citrix running at the same time and notice nothing at all. Now, it is as though I am running on an old Mac or windoze under a load. Does anyone have any suggestions? Any ideas on what is going on? Looking at top, I see no app that would appear to be sucking enough resources to cause this problem. I even recently added another 64 megs of ram (total of 256 megs now). Swap is hardly used at all. patrick -- To unsubscribe: mail [EMAIL PROTECTED] with "unsubscribe" as the Subject.
