Speaking of the gdm.conf file, would some kind soul point me
to the docs for that file?
/usr/doc/gdm-2.0beta2/ has the whopping listing of:
948 Sep 1 17:40 AUTHORS
17992 Mar 22 1999 COPYING
25850 Sep 1 17:26 ChangeLog
0 Apr 18 1999 NEWS
1135 Sep 1 17:45 README
and the README states specifically:
Most features can be turned on and off in the configuration file by
the sysadmin.
Availability:
ftp://ftp.gnome.org/pub/GNOME/sources/gdm/
Please consult README.install for instructions on how to configure and
install gdm.
and:
ncftp /pub/GNOME > pwd
ftp://ftp.gnome.org/pub/GNOME/
ncftp /pub/GNOME > ls
./ GDP/ README stable/
../ MIRRORS contrib/ testing/
FULL MIRRORS.html extra-src/ unstable/
ncftp /pub/GNOME >
<*sigh*>
So, I downloaded the src and hunted down the README.install and I quote:
QUICK NOTES ON INSTALLATION/USE:
First of all: gdm is a *daemon* -- not a common user application. It
requires extensive knowledge about your system setup to install and
configure. gdm isn't - and never will be - Plug and Play
(i.e. ./configure ; make install).
[...]
Configuration is done by editing the gdm.conf file (located in
<prefix>/etc/gdm/gdm.conf). If no config file exists, make install
will create one for you.
[...]
Remember all of that documentation we had for the win.ini file?
Please?
thx,
