Greetings. We've got a bunch of similarly configured Micron PC's, all with
Hitachi CM801 monitors and Number Nine Imagine I-128 video cards. Until
recently all of the systems were running Redhat 6.0, and the video was OK
on all systems. In particular, X-windows worked fine in 1024x768
resolution, etc.
Now we've upgraded two of the systems to Redhat 6.1, and in both cases
we've been unable to get X-windows to work properly. The video card is
successfully autoprobed, and the monitor is on the list of supported
monitors, but we get the following message during the installation:
Xconfigurator: No valid video modes were autodetected at 8, 16, or
24 bits per pixel
After that we've been unable to get X-windows to work in anything better
than 320x200 mode. We've tried both Xconfigurator and XF86Setup. We've
tried editing /etc/X11/XF86config. We've tried using SVGA and even VGA
servers instead of the I128 server. Etc., etc. No luck.
I might add that we've updated a number of other systems, from different
vendors (Dell, VA, etc.) and with different video configurations, to Redhat
6.1 and have not had any problems.
Has anybody seen this? And/or do you have a solution for the problem?
Thanks.
- Mike
