Frank you are mailing a Redhat list, we would not be here if we thought
another distribution was markedly better, therefore most answers will
be....get Redhat.......right?

You run the risk of starting nasty emails with questions along this line,
or maybe getting a few yourself !

At the moment Redhat is somewhat of a leader with the significant backings
it has received, and has had a pretty good following for some time now, I
feel Redhat is trying to cater for the newer user as much as possible,
whilst trying not to completely alienate the long term hard core users that
have been here from the beginning......something to remember here is that
you don't want Linux to be windows....right ? might be less scary all
dumbed down...but this will fade in a short time probably.

To try and be completely open, if you want to confuse things at this stage,
maybe subscribe to the mail lists of the other offerings so you can get a
feel of things first hand, see what's thrown around the lists....etc

most apps etc offered on Linux are also available on BSD offerings as well,
which means that there is a very wide range of choices....more than needed
maybe.......
