Most stand-alone tv tuner cards i've come across have used the
bt848 chipset which is pretty standard and works rather well in
linux.
they do however generally lack any hardware compression and
the like, so if you were thinking of using it to capture movies,
tv shows or music videos then think again. unless you have a
fast pII with scsi hard disks and plenty of storage space you will
be forced to use very low capture rates and screen sizes.
