Hi, I've been trying to configure my printer (a HP 692C ) to be used under parallel port 1 (IRQ7) lpr- is most updated version ~~ here's a list of what I did (not in order) device as (lpa) <BIOS> 1) pnp OS turned on 2) Parallel port as IRQ7, 378 SPP/ECP/EPP mode all tried <printtool> 1) /dev/lp1, /dev/lp0 , /dev/lp2 (desperate calls) 2) filters using HP550 , HP default model, HP 6xxxC, HP690 series all tried 3) tried text-only printer (desperate enough to try this ~~) Everytime I do a cat /var/spool/lpd/lpa/status it would say lpa is offline (I checked so many times and pushed in the physical connection as hard as possible) there would always be a lock file in /var/spool/lpd/lpa too (?) the files I send are ASCII ones and they would get queued up but nothing is printed (the printer does not even move at all) This is the default kernel that comes with RH6.1 (using the updated images) I read abt parport ...is it the reason why all I tried does not work out? Does that mean I have to recompile the kernel to fit parport in? (eeek...sigh was hoping to skip this till I have to do this to use my zip drive properly~) Thanks for any light shed~~ -- To unsubscribe: mail [EMAIL PROTECTED] with "unsubscribe" as the Subject.
