I don't believe that dd will work for audio CDs.

Personally, I've had weird behavior with the "read-cd" directive, so
I do something along these lines:
        1. use cdparanoia to read the data to a .wav file
        2. use "cdrdao read-toc ..." to get a known good TOC
        3. write with "cdrdao write ..."

If you run into errors at one of these steps, it might be helpful to
capture the command line and the output and post that -- this might
help narrow down where the problems start.  Also, see if any unusual
messages appear in /var/log/messages when you try the commands.
