yes. i tried using 1800 seconds for both boxes.
too long maybe?
i can only guess that it might be a noisy phone line.
that doesnt really explain why the connection never seems to
go down when i am logged into the remote box, but that might
just be coincidence.
is there any way of testing if the line is noisy? or preventing
modem hangup on a noisy line?
the really irritating thing is that there are no errors in the
log files at either end (debug is on and kdebug is set to 9).
only normal messages are logged.
