I just got (a week ago) a Diamond Supra 56K external. Costs a little
more than an internal, though a LOT less than a USR external. it seems
to work fine.
Paid 99.99 at CompUsa, with a 20 dollar mail-in rebate. I've seen them
on web sites as low as 73.50 (US) or therabouts, plus about $8 for
shipping which turns out about the same as I paid once you include
the 5% state tax.
Trouble with internals, even if you can find one that isn't a LoseModem,
is nearly all the remainder are Plug'n'Pray which while they could be
made to work (isapnptools) are a pain in the rear.
