Another option for the 3c509b is to find a program called 3c5x9set or
3c5x9setup, can't remember the exact name. It's written by Donald
Becker (author of most of the kernel nic drivers). It allows you to
leave your card in PnP mode. The nice thing about isa pnp, it stays
once you set it. I use it whenever I need to rearrange my irq's. It's
the only option for me, mine is a Linux-only box and doesn't have a
functioning floppy drive, so I can only boot from the hard drive or
the Linux install CD.
