I have a RH 6.1-ish system that I have tried to make as secure as possible. I have used nmap to scan my system so I know what is visable to the world, installed portsentry and tripewire. Now I want to try to get into my system and have a go at my passwords. I use shadow passwords and PAM. I have done some looking but so far haven't really found what I want. Can anyone suggest any password crackers that can at least try to brute force shadow passwords? I have crack-lib and so forth all up to date but still want to know how crackable my system and its passwords may really be. The couple of potential password crackers I have tried out can find the shadow file just fine but when they check them, they don't have the ability (apparently) to decrypt them - or even try to. patrick -- To unsubscribe: mail [EMAIL PROTECTED] with "unsubscribe" as the Subject.
