i'm still trying to get my modem (the one that worked beautifully in 6.0)
with the rp3 1.0 but i'm getting this error:

pppd error! Look for an explanation in /var/log/messages.
I know my ISP needs PAP authentication - could this be the problem - and
if so, how do i go about fixing it? when i used netcfg to put this all
together it allowed for PAP.
any help would be greatly appreciated. i'm trying to write this up on
TechRepublic (the covert Red Hat 6.1 bug) but won't do so until i have a
solution to offer my readers (unless there is no solution - then i'll just
have report that fact).
