Thankyou....I try to tell people this all the time and they don't beleive
me.  You are exactly right.  You're themal cycling the silicon chips themselves
from ambient room temp to about 200 degrees F or so, regardless or the heat
sink.  It's the same themal thing that causes cracks in metal, potholes in
roads, etc....  After all, there isn't a whole of lot of difference between
a $1000 Pentium CPU and a 1/2 inch square plate of glass glued onto a piece
of ceramic.
