Has anyone had trouble with the samba file in the contrib directory (specifically samba-1.9.18p5-42.6.i386.rpm)? I downloaded it to upgrade the copy that came with the Redhat 5.0 distribution and after I ran the upgrade, nothing worked. I played with it a bit and figured out that for some reason the passwords aren't being recognised anymore. When I went back to the version that came with the 5.0 distribution, everything was happy again. Here's some output testing it with smbclient after the upgrade... - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - # smbstatus Samba version 1.9.18p5 Service uid gid pid machine ---------------------------------------------- No locked files Share mode memory usage (bytes): 102216(99%) free + 128(0%) used + 56(0%) overhead = 102400(100%) total # smbclient -L SLAGEL -U dpalmer Added interface ip=192.168.0.1 bcast=192.168.0.255 nmask=255.255.255.0 Server time is Sun May 10 20:18:29 1998 Timezone is UTC-0.0 Password: security=user Broken pipe # - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Broken pipe? I have never seen this error before! I have posted a similar message to the comp.protocol.smb forum as well, hoping that someone there might know why upgrading to the new version would blow everything up. Thanks for any suggestions!
