Apache Install

Hi.

I am just starting with RedHat 5.0 and am about to install Apache 1.3.0.
I was wondering if someone could tell me what the prefix part of the
line :

$ ./configure --prefix=PREFIX [...]

means.  Thanks in advance for your help.
