sndconfig work only with Creative soundcards(BTW
sndconfig-0.20-1.i386.rpm is out)
for Ess1869 you must compile sound.o module for kernel
From http://www.oss.com or www.4front-tech.com you must download
ossfree sound drv. old ver. is ossfree38s9-linux20x.tar.gz
(or consult archie)
