Ah, the saga continues.

*Many* people have been very helpful as I attempt to "see" both of my SCSI
CD-ROM drives:

A Ricoh CDR on ID=0
A Plextor on ID=3

Redhat install apparently only "sees" the first and doesn't look any
further.

"cdrom" is linked to scd0 (ricoh) after installation.

What I thought I should try to do is change the link to cdrom -> scd1 but
I am not sure how to get rid of the cdrom -> scd0 link.

Meanwhile it seems that there is no scd1 in /dev initially, so I tried
mknod:

mknod /dev/scd1 b 11 0

I took the numbers from the major and minor numbers of the existing
scd0...clearly wrong, because now I've suceeded in having the RICOH seen
as scd1...but can't ID the Plextor.

Tonight I'm seriously considering opening the box and switching the SCSI
IDs on the two drives and re-installing.

The coward's way out, to be sure, and it won't completely get rid of the
problem because I will someday want to use both drives...

Again, any and all help/suggestions are appreciated!

regards,

Jil
