Greetings all.

I compiled and installed the latest GIMP last night. But prior to that,
as recommended in the GIMP docs, I installed the latest versions of the
jpeg, libpng, and zlib libraries. Everything seemed to compile and
install fine. The GIMP starts up and functions fine.

However, both xv and Image Magik report the following error when trying
to open a .jpg from my image archives: "jpeg parameter struck mismatch:
library thinks size is 508, caller expects 456; <filename.jpg>"

GIMP can open the same files no problem. What have I done and how do I
undo it? Do I need to un-install the new jpeg library? (If so, how is
this done? "make uninstall"?) Then I guess I would have to re-install
the old jpeg rpm that I removed with "rpm -e"? And will GIMP still
function if I do this?

(New libraries: zlib-1.1.2, libpng-1.0.1, jpeg-6a; on RH5.0, 2.0.32)
Thanks in advance for any clues.
