Is there some reason that you are recommending Samba over NFS shares?
NFS seems more intuitive to me but that may be born of ignorance.

BTW, I haven't used it but I believe that the Lisa daemon simulates
"MyNetwork" browsing. It has to be running on the server and the
clients.
