C++ lib compatibility between Red Hat 9 and 7.3

We're having problems linking C++ objects compiled with g++ 3.2 on Red 
Hat 9 with libraries (DSOs) built using g++ 2.96 on Red Hat 7.3. Does 
anyone have details about the (in)compatibility between these releases?
