Hopefully someone else can be more precise about this, but at the Linux
Expo there was a talk about caching nfs servers, which reportedly offer
a big performance boost in situations like these.

The presentation was done by Greg J. Badros ([EMAIL PROTECTED]), and
according to the paper included in the proceedings, their implementation
of nfs brings some of the features in the 2.1.x series of kernels into
the 2.0 series. From that, I guess that yes, the 2.1 series (starting
with 2.1.32) does do nfs better than the 2.0's, but there are also ways
to bring at least some of that performance to a machine running a 2.0
kernel.

A quick flip through the paper didn't reveal any URL's though, so maybe
you could contact GJB directly?

Hope this helps. . .
