Redhat Linux 9 locks up

Users:

I am running Redhat Linux 9 kernel 2-4.02. I noticed the system would lock every secon day

so I desabled apmd power management and the screen saver. It seemed a little better

but I am stiil having the console lock up and I am forced to re-boot.

I am using a Dell Latitude C840 laptop.

Is this a kernel bug or is there a solution to this.
