I suspect that the issue is that the third server is not set up properly
at the parent server.  It is fine and dandy to add NS records to your
zone file but you need all the servers to be in the parent (whois ?)
records so when someone asks for "who is the authorative dns for
mydomain.com they get sent to the right servers.

I use 
http://www.dnsreport.com/
a lot for troubleshooting and verifying dns stuff.
