Do this,

Go to the directory where you have j2sdk-1_4_1_05-linux-i586-rpm.bin
and type:
        chmod a+x j2sdk-1_4_1_05-linux-i586-rpm.bin

This will make the binary file executable.  Then all you have to do is to run 
it like a command.  
 
just do,
        ./j2sdk-1_4_1_05-linux-i586-rpm.bin

This will extract all the files.  Note when you run this command all the files 
will be expanded under the directory where j2sdk-1_4_1_05-linux-i586-rpm.bin.

So make sure that you place j2sdk-1_4_1_05-linux-i586-rpm.bin in the directory 
where you want to have your java stuff.  I placed mine under /usr/java
